Hello, I am Amy Davis. I am a 9th grade World Geography teacher at Goose Creek Memorial High School.
I haven't always been a teacher, in fact it took me a while to find out what I wanted to be when I grew up, but here I am now. I have a Bachelors of Science in Geography (as well as 2 AAS degrees) and truly enjoy exploring and discovering the world around me. I also enjoy bringing experiences of the world to my students. I have had the opportunity twice to take students on journeys out of the US for the first time. It is amazing for me to see students experience cultures that we learn about first hand. For students that are not able to travel with me, I do my very best to bring experiences back to the classroom by using pictures and what I call "travel trash" (McDonald's wrappers, soda cans, etc.). It is the best way I know to help students understand that people around the world may be different from us, but may also be very similar. I love to watch my students grow and truly enjoy following their successes year after year and being available to help with stumbling blocks along the way. I am not only a teacher, though. I am a mom, stepmom, grandma (my favorite job), Disney fanatic and travel agent (again, I love to help others explore). My children are all grown and are out on their own (34, 33, 27, 25, 22, 21) and my grandbabies (10, 8, 5, 2 and awaiting our newest 12/2020) are growing way too fast. I have a ton of experience with kids of all ages and love to make learning fun whenever possible. You will often find me using my love for Disney in the classroom whether through Disney music, lessons that use "the Mouse" or other Disney themes to make the work more fun. |

Skills Checklist
In my classroom, you can expect me to use a variety of methods of instruction. We may create paper manipulatives one day and a digital portfolio the next. I feel like it is important to implement lessons that are not only useful and relevant but also forward-thinking. To do this, I use numerous formats and digital applications which I have received training on. Some of these applications you can see below.
